Burnish is a dance work that renders the phenomenon (physics and psychics) of magenta into live-performance. With a cast of six performers - afterimage, Color Theory, absence and saturation become vibrational frequencies and meticulous patterns. Scores of wild movement meld an elliptical use of weight with expressive rhythm, sharpening into something unnerving, boldly feminine, and poetic. Color becomes a vibrant articulation of bodies moving with velocity and tenderness. This project inherently and relentlessly intertwines elements of design; charging relationships of light, sound, movement, and emotion.

This class strives to create an inspiring, supportive environment in which participants feel comfortable and free to take risks within and outside of their bodies. Deeply rooted in anatomic and somatic principles, we will take a playful, hands-on approach to understanding our structures, heightening our awareness of ourselves and how we navigate space. I encourage movers to discover or redefine their movement potential through exercises that emphasize the ideal alignment, softness into the floor, articulation, energetic efficiency and ease. We will approach choreographic material with an improvisational sensibility that allows us to practice presence in concert with our technical precision. We will work with touch, breath, voice and imagination to inspire curiosity and creativity that will hopefully stay with us as we leave the studio and re-enter the world around us.
